Conical Cage Cable Gland: Cable gland for EV charging stations

Together with our partner bimed, we have developed the innovative ‘Conical Cage Cable Glands’ with outstanding strain relief values and torsion resistance thanks to a conical seal and a conical cage insert especially for wallboxes and charging stations:

These not only meet the extremely high requirements in the EV charging infrastructure and the railway industry, but can also be used profitably with a view to the increasingly demanding requirements in mechanical and plant engineering and automation technology.

Wide clamping area against cold flow effect:

Particularly in these applications, problems often occur when using standard cable glands, as the cables heat up and expand during each charging process. They then cool down again and contract. This leads to a constantly changing cable diameter, in addition to the high dead weight of the cables and a strong tensile load by the user. The cold flow effect then occurs and the cable is damaged. Our solution to this: With the new clamping system of the Conical Cage gland, the entire inner surface of the seal presses the cable together after tightening. Compared to other cable glands, the area on which pressure is exerted is very large. Therefore, the cold flow effect on the cable does not occur. As a result, the cable is not damaged and the new design achieves a high cable retention force.

With their very high strain relief values and torsion resistance, the ‘Conical Cage Cable Glands’ are perfect for use in DC chargers, in the railway sector, wall boxes or in large data centres:

  • Protection Degree IP68
  • Temperature Resistance -20°C to +100°C, short time +120°C
  • High strain relief supports mor than 1.000 N (100kg)
